CBI Procedure for Annual Superintendent Evaluation
PROCEDURE FOR ANNUAL SUPERINTENDENT EVALUATION
TO: (ORONO OR VEAZIE COMMITTEE MEMBERS)
FROM: (ORONO OR VEAZIE COMMITTEE CHAIR)
DATE: NOVEMBER __________________
It is time for the annual evaluation of the Superintendent. It is said that the most important thing the School Committee does is hire a Superintendent, and the second most important thing is to evaluate his/her performance. Our goal is to give the Superintendent critical information and support him/her in executing a successful leadership position in our schools. We each must invest in this process by thoughtfully participating in the evaluation process.
Enclosed please find a packet of material that contains the Superintendent’s job description and evaluation form. After reviewing the job description, complete the evaluation form and return it to your Chair. Note that your name is not to appear on the evaluation form.
The local school committee Chair will collate all the evaluations and bring a summary report to an Executive Session at the next Committee meeting of the local committee. At this time, the full, local Committee will critique the results and add to the report as indicated. The local Committee will also review the job description at this time to determine if changes need to be brought to the Union 87 Committee for consideration.
The Union 87 Chair, Veazie Chair and Orono Chair will meet with the reports from the respective Committees. The information will be collated into a Union 87 report that will be presented to the Superintendent and Committee members prior to the annual review meeting held in December. If needed, further meetings will be held with the Superintendent and the appropriate Committee(s).
