The Garden Club is harvesting with Mrs. Richard for the next three weeks. Flowers for classrooms, food for the lunchroom. They also planted new lettuce!

Dear VCS Families,
Please be on the lookout for very important paperwork coming to you via mail. We are proud to be partnering with Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence, Inc. to upgrade our school-wide strategic plan and capital improvement plan.
This important mailing contains survey links and unique access codes. Completion time for the survey is estimated to be 15 minutes. Surveys must be completed by September 30, 2019. We are hoping to have every parent or guardian complete a survey. Please contact me if you feel that your mailing address was overlooked (we used all physical addresses provided to us during this fall's registration period).
Data generated from the survey will help us to identify and celebrate our strengths as well as identify opportunities for growth. As a school, we are consistently looking for opportunities to grow so we can better and more strategically address each student's needs, goals and aspirations.
Thank you very much for your time and support.
Sincerely,
Matthew D. Cyr
Superintendent & Principal

Thank you Connor Archer and The Courageous Steps Project for the generous donation of school supplies!

Thank you Maine Department of Education and Commissioner Pender Makin for recognizing the hard work and dedication required to support teaching and learning in public schools! Cheers to a great school year!

Important Town Hall Meeting Update

VCS summer programs were visited by rabbits today!

Our summer programs were visited by one of Mrs. Howard’s goats this morning!

One of our summer projects has been improving our school garden classroom area. We have added 3 additional beds, removed sod from inside and around to improve care (and reduce wet sneakers), and created a patio area where our outdoor tables will sit.
So far we have had 19 alumni respond with wonderful news of where life has taken them after leaving the 8th grade in Veazie (Veazie Community School AND the John R. Graham School). If you graduated from Veazie, please consider taking this survey with chance of being in our August, 2019 edition of THE VIKING!

One of our summer projects was to replace the carpeting on our music risers! Details matter! We are proud of our programs.

Our summer Library Program begins tomorrow, July 2. Mrs. Shannon has prepared activities for students of all ages every Tuesday during the month of July. Please see the attached schedule!

Adrian is at it again! One of his coding games is being featured on a MakeCode blog. The features highlighted in this video were taught to our Friday Code Club students this year!

Reminder:
Round 1 of our Chromebook Student Purchase Project begins next week. Chromebook devices must be picked up by a parent or guardian (grades 1 - 6) in the VCS office on one of the following dates: June 18, 19, 20, 24, 25, 26, 27 between the hours of 7:30am and 3pm. Please bring cash or check in the amount of $30 per device (we cannot accept credit or debit cards). Round 1 sales are only open to current students in grades 1 - 6--who will be purchasing their own device.
Once this round 1 purchase period is over, we will assess the amount of remaining devices (if any) and develop a plan for the sale of remaining devices to staff and students in grades PK, K, 7 & 8.
Thank you for your patience while we work through this first of it's kind project (for VCS).
